Alternative Non-Toxic Treatments That Work
By Tanya Harter Pierce, M.A., MFCC
“If you want to consider using Alternative and Complementary medicine for yourself or a loved one’s cancer, this is the book to read first!” — W. John Diamond, M.D.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It gave me the courage to stay with my decisions to seek out alternative treatments for cancer, other than the conventional recommendation of chemotherapy. One of the fears that I have had is being turned away from my oncologist should I choose alternative treatments and in her final chapter she addresses how to talk to the oncologist and negotiate the terms of treatment and their ongoing participation in the individuals health care and follow-ups with bloodwork, MRI’s, CT-Scans, etc.
In her book she discusses various therapies such as Hoxsey, Gerson, Essiac Tea, Laetril, Dr. Kelly’s Enzyme therapy, and the Rife Machines. She also discusses various diets as well as cancer with children and pets.
Because I am personally interested in the concept that cancer feeds off of sugar and acidic conditions, that bringing the body into a more alkaline environment is one of the ways to combat cancer. I found this book to provide a very good back up to this theory with research, documentation and recommendations to maintain a healthy alkaline body that would in due course keep cancer at bay.
“Outsmart Your Cancer is an important and timely book. It documents conventional oncology’s dismal record in the war on cancer and also provides a comprehensive overview of safe, alternative cancer therapies. In addition, this book gives patients and their loved ones an actual plan for evaluating conventional and alternative treatments as well as offering a measurable dose of hope.” — Julian Whitaker, M.D.
Here is what the publisher has to say about this book.
THIRD EDITION - UPDATED AND EXPANDED “Outsmart Your Cancer” is an in-depth alternative treatment guide that could save your life. It explodes the myths about alternative cancer treatments and presents more than twenty approaches that are non-toxic along with dozens of real-life cases from people who used these approaches to completely recover from a variety of cancers, many of which were in late stages. In this updated and expanded Third Edition, all the resources have been updated and new key information has broadened the scope of the book—including new sections on the Ketogenic diet for cancer, on using the natural plant compound “Paw Paw” to obliterate multidrug-resistant cancer cells, and on how you might be able to cure your dog or cat with cancer. Plus, critical information is presented on what men and women need to know about hormone-blocking drugs, the real truth about DCIS breast cancer (Is it really cancer?), what a man’s PSA count really means, and whether he is better or worse off if he takes a testosterone-blocking drug, as well as how to evaluate conventional claims of efficacy for toxic treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation. Highly esteemed doctors and scientists are quoted regarding the scientific basis behind each approach and extra information has been included regarding the amazing liquid formula called “Protocel” with new recent Protocel recovery cases added. This book completely demystifies cancer and makes it clear why non-toxic approaches are often more effective at bringing about complete cures than toxic ones. There are two very different worlds of cancer treatment today - conventional and alternative - and it can be difficult to understand what one's best treatment options might be and why. This book will help you make a much more fully informed treatment decision!

Valuation Information From a Survivor
By Carolyn Boyles, A Personalized Medical Handbook
Carolyn Boyles says it like it is, to the point, from her own experiences over a seven year survival of a spinal cord injury. She covers just about every possible subject and/or question than one could possible ask or comprehend. From some of the most common issues such as bladder, bowel and incontinence to spasticity, bone deterioration, and memory loss; to a wide variety of physical changes in the body over a period of time. As a spinal cord injury survivor, she reflects often on her own story and the question that we all ask ourselves over and over again—why me?
Carolyn Boyles provides many references to the subjects that she presents in this book. Everything that she says is backed up by her own personal research.
I would highly recommend this book to any person who is new or old to a spinal cord injury. I would recommend it to anyone who is a loved one or caregiver to a person who suffers from a spinal cord injury. This book will help bring awareness and clarity to many issues that one may not think about. With an understanding of many of these issues, you will be able to offer yourself or your loved one empathy and compassion.
Here is what the publisher has to say about this book.
An invaluable resource for anyone touched by spinal cord injury-newly injured patients, long-time survivors, friends and loved ones, and medical professionals-A Complete Plain English Guide to Living with an Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury offers a survivor's perspective on the physical and emotional journey from the time of injury, through the entire recovery process, and on to living a full and happy life. This thorough, down-to-earth manual delivers solid, factual information and real-world advice from someone who has been there. Carolyn Boyles, a long-term spinal cord injury survivor, translates medical jargon into plain English, and helps you understand everything you need to know about living and thriving with an injured spinal cord. Boyles' handbook covers surgeries and complications, treatment and rehabilitation, working with medical professionals, dealing with family and friends, understanding your unique injury, prognosis and life expectancy, maintaining hope and faith, working through emotional baggage (including the many forms of survivor guilt), what to expect physically, and how to rebuild a quality life. She candidly answers all the questions nobody wants to ask, and she even includes statistics, ideas for additional reading and movies, resources, and more. But most importantly, she shows you that a spinal cord injury is not a life-ending event, but rather a new beginning.
